Day 6: Neuschwanstein and MAN lecture

Friday was the day I’ve been looking forward to most this whole trip and it definitely met my expectations. We visited the Neuschwanstein castle today, which I had seen photos of and could not believe I was actually going to get to go there.

The day started very early with a bus ride south to the town the castle is in. I immediately fell asleep, and when I woke up right before we arrived I was blown away. I kept saying the whole day how it felt like I was in a post card with how beautiful everything was. The first thing we did was explore the lake surrounded by mountains which was absolutely gorgeous. Also, the town was so peaceful that it was truly such a great experience.

After taking some time to explore, we then took a horse carriage up to the top of the mountain to see the castle up close and the view was spectacular. We then took a tour of the inside of the castle which also was absolutely stunning. It was really interesting to hear about King Ludwig’s thought process behind each room and I found myself thinking about how this all was done at a time before computers and with limited technology and being so impressed. After our tour me and some of the girls ran to see the view from the bridge before making it to lunch, and it was 100% worth the uphill jog. I had never seen something like this before in my life and I’m so grateful for the experience.

After the castle we went back to Augsburg University to hear from a guest speaker at MAN who had some great insights for us and we had a super great Q and A session afterwards. Overall this was one of my favorite days so far and I am excited to see what’s in store for Munich.
