Day 7: To Munich and beyond!

Day 7 unfolded with a vibrant energy that I hadn’t quite experienced in the other cities. The sheer buzz of activity was infectious, and the abundance of free time allowed for a deeper immersion in the local atmosphere. Instead of taking the bus, we took the train which actually led to a different kind of journey – navigating the train system, which in itself offered a glimpse into everyday life here– even though I missed our private limo!

The city tour was filled with fascinating stories woven into the very fabric of the architecture. The dancing statues commemorating the end of the Black Plague were a powerful reminder of history etched in stone. But it was the legend of the church and the architect’s clever bargain with the devil that truly captured my imagination. The way the entrance was designed to create that illusion of a single, all-encompassing light source was ingenious, a testament to human wit triumphing over the supernatural. And the lingering footprint of the defeated devil added a touch of folklore that made the story even more memorable. Exploring the bustling food market was super fun, a vibrant display of local produce and treats.

Our free time led us to the iconic Hofbräuhaus, a quintessential experience. It wasn’t just about the food; it was the lively atmosphere and the sense of tradition that permeated the air. The shopping was a fun way to engage with the local culture on a more personal level, picking up small reminders of this journey. Even something as simple as our shared burger dinner felt like a moment of connection with the group. Looking back at the sheer number of steps I took, it’s a physical manifestation of the day’s exploration and the energy of the city– 20,000 steps!!! It wasn’t just about seeing things; it was about feeling the pulse of the place and experiencing it at my own pace.
