Augsburg Awaits!

Guten tag! My name is Camryn Chiu. I am a sophomore at the University of Pittsburgh in the College of Business Administration and David C. Frederick Honors College, majoring in Marketing with a minor in Chinese. I am originally from Hawaii, and growing up there has instilled in me a love for scenic hikes, delicious foods, and strong community. Outside of the classroom, I am a Division I gymnast for Pitt, which has taught me the responsibility of representing my university at a national level. Professionally, I strive to give back to the athletic community. I manage merchandise and camp operations for Pitt Camps, and I mentor aspiring youth gymnasts in a program called Athlete To Athlete. When I’m not doing all of those things, I love to surf, read a good book, or get my hands dirty in pottery.

After missing the Plus3 Argentina program in my Freshman year, I was determined to reapply for Plus3 Germany. Studying abroad in college has always been a goal of mine, and this two-week opportunity fits perfectly with my demanding athletic schedule. I have never been to Germany before, so I am excited to immerse myself in German culture and learn more about my heritage.

I am thrilled to explore the automotive industry in Germany, which is the birthplace of the automobile. This experience will allow me to learn about the shift to electric vehicle production and smart manufacturing firsthand. As a Marketing student, I am particularly interested in how German brands will pivot their strategies and rebrand to meet new sustainability goals and economic needs. I am also looking forward to expanding my knowledge of global supply chains and manufacturing processes, which can be useful in the future. Overall, I hope to gain not only professional and academic skills, but also new friendships and perspectives.
