Hi! My name is Eloise Riley and I am a freshman at the University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing. I’m originally from Camden, Maine, but I was born in Singapore and lived there my entire life before moving to Pittsburgh. Growing up, dance was always a big part of my life, and it continues to be something I am passionate about. I am currently a member of two dance clubs on campus where I have found amazing communities. I’m not entirely sure what type of nurse I would like to be, but right now I’m interested in becoming a CRNA. I have always been drawn to nursing because I want to be able to care for others in a meaningful way and make a positive impact on people during some of their most vulnerable moments.
In May, I have the opportunity to go to Spain with other nursing students as well as engineering students on the Plus3 program. I chose this program because I am extremely interested in not only how these two disciplines work together to improve healthcare technology, but also to experience a new culture. I hope to gain a deeper understanding of healthcare systems outside of the United States and broaden my perspective on how the field of nursing might overlap with other professions. I also hope to be able to step outside my comfort zone and grow personally to help shape my academic and professional future.
