Hello everyone! My name is Benjamin See, and I am a first-year computer engineering student in the Swanson School of Engineering about to begin a physics minor. I come from Rockville MD, and I am excited to explore everything Pitt has to offer. I am a member of the Pitt Archery club and spend time learning 3D modeling for personal projects when I can find the time in between classwork. My primary interests are chip design and programming, and I hope to explore photonics in the future as I gain more experience in the field. This summer, I will be travelling to South Korea as a part of the Plus3 program!
I chose to be a part of the Plus3 Korea program because the focus on smart systems will give me a deeper look into how autonomous technology is integrated into people’s lives on a large scale. We will spend two weeks exploring Korean culture, technology, and companies to understand how engineering problems are solved from another perspective with a different background. It is so important not only as engineers, but as people to approach any situation from a place of broader understanding. This is why I cannot wait to expand my perspective with all the new experiences awaiting us in Korea!
I anticipate seeing the historic architecture and tasting all kinds of new foods will be the most exciting parts of the trip for me. One of the main reasons South Korea called to me is because of its rich historical sites, so being able to see them in person will be awe inspiring. We can experience this no more truly than our temple stay, where we get to spend a full night in a traditional Buddhist temple!
This trip will be a once in a lifetime experience and I’m excited to update you with every highlight along the way!
