One Ticket to Argentina!

Hi! My name is Lucy, and I’m a freshman nursing student attending the Pitt Plus3 Argentina trip this summer. I’m originally from a small town in Pennsylvania called Williamsport, which is about 3.5 hours from campus. On campus, I enjoy spending time with my friends and taking walks around the city. I’m also involved in an organization called the Nursing Student Association where i am able to make connections with other nursing students on campus, as well as volunteer and take part in service projects that benefit important causes. Nursing is something that has really intrigued me because I have always had a passion to serve and care for others. Looking forwarded, I plan to continue my education by going into nursing administration. I would like to make a difference in hospitals by advocating for patients and ensuring they get the best care possible.

This summer, I’m excited to explore the Argentina healthcare system and see how it differs from the one here in America. Because I want to get into a career of nursing administration, this program felt like the best fit for me. Through this program we will attend local hospitals, clinics, and universities that will help us understand how healthcare in Argentina is funded, managed, and accessed. We will also get to see how healthcare professional such as doctors and nurses work with directly with patients. Professionally, I hope to grow connections with professions abroad, that will help me gain a wider view on healthcare throughout the world. I believe this experience can help me become a better, more well-rounded nurse. In my career, I am going to treat patients with all different backgrounds, so it’s important that I get a sense of what healthcare is like in different places. Along with the educational aspect of this trip, I’m excited to explore the city of Buenos Aires and experience their culture first hand.
