Two things that I will always remember today are firstly the tour to the University of Nicosia Campus at Greece, where we were provided with an opportunity to visit the building and see the cutting-edge gene sequencing technology that works fast. We also toured numerous laboratories including those for hospital-based studies and the ones for cadaver investigations. I liked the food science lab where the company CEO told us about how the individual components of different foods are identified based on people’s reactions, which is very similar to genomic investigation, such as Deep Genomics. At this stage, we don’t have sufficient data about the exact composition of the vast majority of foods because we still don’t know all the chemicals and this puts us in the same situation like the Victorians, but thanks to the latest advancements, we can discover these details using AI technologies.

Additionally we also got to go to Mezze and tried some authentic Greek food.

Finally, we had the pleasure of visiting The Ellinikon Experience Centre, where our attention was drawn to a futuristic project based around issues related to climate change and sustainability. Here, we got a chance to view a map of the upcoming almost 10 billion dollar project. In addition, there were interactive exhibits here that enabled us to smell different types of flowers in the park, sail a virtual boat across the bay and( a personal favorite) go for a virtual bike ride along the new area’s paths. Also don‘t worry I WILL be coming back in 10 years to bike the trails in person.
