The first day in Athens after taking the red line was interesting to say the least. We saw the biggest project in all of Greece at Ellinikon with astonishing builds underway in the next ten years. The new park is going to be 6.2 million square meters including 600,000 square meters of dedicated green space. One interesting part of the project is that the park with have an overall temperature that is less than the surrounding city by around 5 degrees depending on conditions. The old airport in will create one kilometer of public beach access making it an amazing spot for beach days. I find it extraordinary that Greece is making such an effort towards the environment and the community. In the future I hope to see more projects like this where I live.
