Today during the program, we experienced a combination of science, history, and culture through activities around Athens. We started the day by attending a lecture called “From Venoms to Drugs and More” presented by Ioannis Sarigiannis from the Department of Life and Health Science at University of Nicosia. During the lecture, we learned about peptides and how they could play a major role in the future of medicine and technology. One of the most interesting topics discussed was the idea of self-healing, multispectral, transparent adhesive peptide glass, which could potentially regenerate itself after being damaged. Hearing about these advancements showed me how science is constantly evolving and creating possibilities that once seemed impossible. After the lecture, we toured the Benaki Museum, where we explored exhibits representing different periods of Greek history and culture. Later in the day, we visited Mount Lycabettus, which provided an incredible view overlooking the city of Athens. Overall, today combined modern scientific innovation with historical learning, making it one of the most interesting experiences of the program so far.
