Day 1: It’s been a long day

We arrived in Casablanca at 7:15 am. Weirdly, I was not too tired getting off the long flight, but soon enough it caught up to me. When we got out of the airport, I was initially surprised because I really had no idea what to expect. As we made our way more into the city of Casablanca, I became more interested in everything I saw. We passed a lot of new construction projects, so many Shell gas stations, and lots of McDonald’s locations. It was also a lot of fun being able to experience the mall and see what different types of food were available. When we visited the Hassan II Mosque, I started to become more tired. There was a strong, windy breeze with the combination of the sun shining down and the water crashing in the distance. I was very intrigued by the size of the mosque and the way they run rituals and prayers. I think one of my favorite interesting facts the tour guide told us is how there are around 300 speakers hidden throughout the mosque so everyone can hear the call to prayer. I also liked how the speakers are hidden in the marble detailing, so it made it seamless. Overall, I am happy we got to start our day with an activity and the rest of the time to relax and explore on our own. Can’t wait for what’s to come!
