This trip has been a life-changing experience. From knowing basically nothing about healthcare in general and nothing about Argentina, I now feel confident enough to inform someone else about the system. Seeing different perspectives in the US, it helped me gain a better insight into how other countries and people deal with healthcare struggles. Argentina’s system is a very complex and difficult system, but it does have its pros and cons for sure. Seeing different neighborhoods and their hospitals really shows that a 10-minute drive can completely change the kind of healthcare you are receiving. In the United States, that is something you really don’t see with not being able to receive good health care. I know I am a business major, and I did feel this was definitely more targeted towards nursing. I still enjoyed learning about it and still found it interesting. I do know I would never do anything business-related in healthcare because it’s such a complex and frustrating field to deal with.
Aside from the knowledge I have gained, I made some very good friendships with the people in this group. For only being with each other for 2 weeks, I feel I have made some lifelong friends on this trip and will continue to see them and hang out with them during college. We had a lot of laughing moments and a good time together, which made the trip even better. Going out, exploring the city, and learning about each other is something I will never forget about this trip. I also want to say thank you to Grant and Jason for being another amazing part of this trip. It showed they cared about us learning and were interested in our lives. Couldn’t thank them enough.
I also really enjoyed trying new types of food and meeting our friends Mateo and Fran, who go to Austral. We met him on the first day, and we hung out a couple more times throughout the trip. We have a group chat with them and are going to still keep in contact. Stuff dosent happen like that often, so I am grateful for that also.
